Marc Poisson is known for the striking manner in which he captures the effects of light and shade in his subjects. These include landscapes, street scenes, seacapes, boats and figure studies as well as his street scenes of the Cape Dutch architecture found in the Stellenbosch University area .

Marc was born in Durban, South Africa in 1952. He is self-taught, working predominantly in oils and pastels. Concentrating mainly on the play of light and shade in his subject matter, he combines strong emotive effects with stimulating textural techniques to achieve renderings that are appealingly attractive.

Currently living in Sydney, Marc was accepted as a member of the Art Society of NSW in 1989 and also exhibits his work in various galleries in NSW as well as fulfilling overseas commisions.
